Nicola is a highly experienced economist and economic development strategist with unique experience of the policy terrain of the North of England in comparative context. She has 18 years’ experience of relevant project and programme management, leadership within complex government environments and of large teams supporting decision-makers at all levels.

Currently Chief Economist & Head of Public Sector Business at Red Flag Alert, Nicola has operated as a long-standing Associate of So-Mo, providing her expertise and professional skills through a number of So-Mo projects. With special expertise at subnational (regional) and supra-national (EU/UN) scales for sustainable urban development, Nicola is a thought leader, commentator and contributor to broadsheet, broadcast and podcasts.

On top of all that, Nicola has also edited five books on the social consequences of storylines in the Archers!
